Less than 10,000 words to go (just barely, but whatever)! \o/
Happy Thanksgiving, y'all. I'll be sitting here in my rainbow knit hat and my "True Fun!" snuggie*, trying to will my misshapen talons into writing a few more words.
* I take back any mocking I ever did of the snuggie. Backwards bathrobe or not, I love it so hard. It is super soft, it has a snack pocket (this is probably not only what it was intended for, but that's what I've been using it as), and it make curling up on the couch

Should be nano-ing, but am clearly procrastinating by writing this. And making a Nano playlist.
Side note: I keep hearing people complain that it's cold. It's... NOVEMBER in the Mid-Atlantic. It should be cold. In fact, I call this time of year SUPER AWESOME FALL, because you know winter is just around the corner, but it's not painfully cold yet... it's just cold enough that slippers are extra cozy and if you crack your knuckles, they kind of go numb for a second (just me in thinking that's awesome? DUN JUDGE ME). Plus: SCARF AND HOODIE WEATHER. :D
More good times:
Seriously. How so charming, Darren Criss and the Tufts University Beelzelbubs?
And more music - a snippet of my Nano playlist (entitled Secret Robot because... in my teen novel... there may be a secret robot).
Aberdeen, "Sink or Float"
Adam Lambert, "Can't Let You Go"
Tom McRae, "You Only Disappear"
Blonde Redhead, "23"
City and Colour, "Sleeping Sickness"

So, wow, this internet thing. It still exists!
Two things that made me break my weird, not-planned-but-really-I-had-real-life-s henanigans hiatus:
1) FUCKING FINALLY:
Nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series:
KYLE CHANDLER as Eric Taylor, Friday Night Lights
Nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series:
CONNIE BRITTON as Tami Taylor, Friday Night Lights
It's several seasons too late, and I doubt they'll win (Cases in point: the Emmy people nominated Tony Shalhoub AGAIN. REALLY. AGAIN?!; Zach Gilford missing from Supporting Actor in a Drama), but still. FINALLY.
Also, the Supporting Actor in a Comedy field is ridiculous. Behold:
Chris Colfer as Kurt Hummel, Glee
Neil Patrick Harris as Barney Stinson, How I Met Your Mother
Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Mitchell Pritchett, Modern Family
Jon Cryer as who the fuck knows or cares, Two and A Half Men
Eric Stonestreet as Cameron Tucker, Modern Family
Ty Burrell as Phil Dunphy, Modern Family
Let's play a game of "which one of these is not like I can't even finish this joke it's Jon Cryer how does he keep getting nominated that show is fucking terrible." My only hope is that the three completely wonderful Modern Family men don't split the vote so much that Cryer actually wins again.
2) I am reality show heartbroken that ballet dancer Alex Wong might be seriously injured and out for the season on So You Think You Can Dance (and, you know, facing some pretty tough physical therapy and overcoming an Achilles tendon rupture, putting his whole dance career on hold). He is my favorite this season. To sum up:
(Blerg and damnations - all the good quality ones have embedding disabled, you know it's bad when the only thing I can find is one that's someone filming their TV. Here's a good one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hYYEzomD HQ)
ALEX IS AWESOME. I hope he's okay!

So last weekend, I went and saw Jonathan Coulton with a few friends. We had a fantastic time - both JoCo and openers Paul & Storm were clearly having a blast, which always adds to the show, I think. Having seen neither act live before, I can definitely say they're more than worth the price of admission.
JoCo's set:
Code Monkey
Shop Vac
Betty & Me
Dance, Solerious Johnson, Dance
I'm Your Moon
Curl
Big Bad World: One
Blue Sunny Day
Always the Moon
Birdhouse In Your Soul
Creepy Doll
Mr. Fancy Pants (mixed in with the Super Mario Bros. theme and Single Ladies - epic)
Drinking With You
The Future Soon
Skullcrusher Mountain (during which a fan presented him with a monkey-pony monster, natch)
Mandelbrot Set
Re: Your Brains
And the encore:
I Feel Fantastic
First of May

I really need to think of a purpose for posting so I can write things and be even slightly creative-ish on a regular basis. Hmm. I mean, I haven't even been able to muster up some decent internet flail at my new love of Modern Family (seriously, watch it), or over the continuing amazingness that Adam Lambert (as some sort of space prince performing "Sleepwalker" on the Tonight Show; rocking feathers and singing an acoustic version of Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love," riffing for seven and a half glorious minutes, HIS VOICE YOU GUYS), or Kathryn Bigelow becoming the first woman to receive the Best Director Academy Award.
But what brings me back to the internet without fail?
BITCHING.
To the audience who viewed The Crazies with me and MM yesterday evening,
( Spoilers for The Crazies, obvi. )
There was an issue with one of the speakers in our theater, too, so whenever anything particular bass-heavy came through, the speaker just rattled like a maraca. We totally found a manager after the fact and "complained" (although eh, didn't care that much), and totes got free tickets to another movie, so... at least this one was on them? Seriously, worst audience ever.

I've been trying to figure out something to make this blog about, so I don't go through these lulls of apathy towards completing... anything. I'll figure it out soon, I guess. Like, regular coverage of a TV show to get in the habit of trying to be funny on cue?
I spent New Year's in Baltimore and had a low key good time. The DC metro area has been plagued by snow of late, so I stocked up on groceries yesterday in the event that Snowpocalypse II: Electric Boogaloo becomes an actualfax big deal (just the necessities: soup, bread, Star Trek eggos).
My roommate and I are watching Carnivale - I picked up both seasons at Best Buy on some sort of ridiculous sale. I'm watching it from the perspective of someone who has seen it all before and has done geek-driven internet research on it. E is watching it from the perspective of a new viewer. I still don't have that many answers when she turns to me and goes, "no, seriously, wtf." I have succeeded in ruining Clancy Brown for her forever, though. He showed up on that new lawyer show (The Deep End) and we both immediately assumed he was evil and working for the destruction of mankind. Heh.
I'm replaying Knights of the Old Republic II, because being a Jedi is awesome.
I've also honed my TV schedule. Here's what I'm watching:
Monday: Chuck, How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory. Castle, on occasion.
Tuesday: Lost, White Collar.
Wednesday: Modern Family, Glee.
Thursday: Community, Parks & Recreation, The Office, 30 Rock, Burn Notice. Bones and Supernatural I catch online some other day, because DAMN, what the hell, everything on Thursday.
Friday: RIP Dollhouse. Friday Night Lights.
It only took one article about Scott Fujita, but now I'm full on cheering for the Saints on Sunday. Hopefully Electric Snowballoo won't keep me from heading out to see friends for the Super Bowl. Friends and good times seem slightly less shut-in-ish than me watching the Super Bowl in my monkey bathrobe eating Star Trek eggos.
